I'm a big fan of fashion, but I am an even bigger fan of fashion-forward clothes that contribute to a cause.
I recently purchased the below t-shirt from tanQ, a unique Portland, Ore., company run by Judy Tan. She, along with the help of other designers, creates a new t-shirt design each month and sells the garments to support charities in need. My good friend Shawna X. Huang designed the "Godzilla Loves Japan" t-shirt that I'm wearing below. I've gotten so many compliments on how adorable and creative the t-shirt is, but the story behind the tee is even better.
In response to the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March, tanQ teamed up with Shawna to design and sell t-shirts that support the relief efforts of American Red Cross. The best part is that 100% of the net proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go directly to American Red Cross to support humanitarian relief in Japan. Indeed it's a cute tee -- but the best part it's giving back to a good cause!
Do you have a favorite clothing item or jewelry you've purchased to help out a worthy cause?
