You start the year with vision and enthusiasm that's filled with promise for the future. Lucky Jupiter spent the second half of 2011 in your sign, planting seeds of hope in your personal life. But progress likely slowed on Aug. 30, 2011, when Jupiter turned retrograde. Then, on Dec. 25, 2011, Jupiter began moving forward again, and it now welcomes the new year with a wave of optimism that's ready to expand your reality. This fresh start, though, runs into a speed bump on Jan. 23 when Mars, the planet of initiation, turns backward in your 5th House of Self-Expression. Creative projects may encounter delays and romantic impulses could be blocked -- you must backtrack and tie up loose ends before Mars starts moving forward again on April 13. Don't allow impatience to frustrate you, because the adjustments you make will produce even better results in the long run. Even when you're sure that you're right on track for love, fame or fortune, this detour can lead you to a more rewarding path. Faith in yourself is all that's required to recognize that "not right now" doesn't mean "never." Like a fine wine, you and your concepts will increase in value when you don't rush the process.

Jupiter skips into buoyant Gemini and your 2nd House of Resources on June 11. There, it will spend the following 12 months, peppering you with ideas about how to increase your income. One secret to cashing in on this transit is to develop additional skills and seek extra revenue streams. A few bucks earned on the side may not seem like much at first, but it can add up when it keeps coming in on a regular basis. Another key to financial growth is your willingness to take on tasks even if you question your competence. You don't have to be an expert to make more money this year; using a wide range of skills may be worth more than concentrating your efforts on deepening just one talent.

You've been working to refine your relationship skills thanks to stately Saturn's presence in accommodating Libra and your 6th House of Adjustments since the summer of 2010. Saturn the Tester shifts into steamy Scorpio and your 7th House of Partnerships on Oct. 5, however, announcing a new era in personal and professional alliances. Your apprenticeship is over and it's time to face your allies and your adversaries from a position of greater authority. Yes, it's nice to be nice, and compromise will never go out of style when you're dealing with others. Still, this transit signals a more powerful degree of emotional engagement. Negatively, Saturn may bring up old doubts and fears that undermine your confidence in your ability to get what you want from others. Positively, you become more aware of your unspoken needs and desires, and you can address them more openly.
