Hit the ground running

Love shifts gears mid-month as Venus, the planet of amour, moves from impatient Aries to slow and sensual Taurus on May 15. Relationships in the first half of May are characterized by a higher-than-usual need for excitement, since Venus in fiery Aries is easily bored with predictable people and activities. We want fun and we want it now, which can be challenging for people in long-term partnerships. Bringing something new to the table will go a long way to avoiding conflict that is roused when we're bored.

If you're single, this is an excellent time to update your look. Trying different clothes, hairstyles and accessories should be a playful experiment rather than a serious commitment to a style. Inexpensive items are more interesting because you'll be more willing to discard them if they don't give you the boost you're seeking.

Venus' conjunction with expansive Jupiter on May 11 encourages risky behavior. It's appropriate to take some chances as long as you're aware of the costs. Besides, it's probably better to let impulses take you on a ride than to stifle your enthusiasm.

Venus' entry into her earthy home sign Taurus on May 15 slows down the pace of partnerships. Caution and calculation are more likely as we measure the consequences of our actions more carefully. Venus' conjunction with passionate Mars, her partner in matters of the heart, on May 23 can be especially sexy for those who take the time enjoy their senses.
