The Moon

Your feminine touch

Moon

Like the Sun, the Moon’s role in Astrology is that of a planet. And like all planets, the Moon rules over a specific part of you. In this case, it’s extremely personal: your inner life. If the Sun determines your outer personality, the heavy-hitting Moon is all about your inner self and emotions. Just as you have a Sun sign, you have a Moon sign, too -- a member of the zodiac that influences how you think and feel.

The Moon points out internal influences -- such as your past history, your gut instincts and your romantic compatibility -- and for this reason, Astrologers often say that the Moon represents your innermost feminine side.

The Moon rules over our moods in two ways. First, there’s the horoscope sign the Moon was in when you were born. Your Sun sign might be the fiery, outgoing Aries, but if your Moon sign is Cancer, your Aries fearlessness may be counteracted by your Cancer sensitivity and need for security.

Secondly, the Moon influences all of our moods on a global level, since it spends about two and a half days in each sign. Whatever your personal Moon sign, your mood may change as the Moon continues to move throughout the skies. For example: we may all feel a bit more passionate and intense when the Moon is in Scorpio, while a Leo Moon means we want to break out of our shells and have a good time!

Dating your own horoscope sign can be tricky, as the other person will mirror both your best and worst traits back to you. For example, Cancers are as cozy together as two bugs in a rug, but can also drive each other crazy with their moodiness. Aquarians may be the best of friends, but could remain so detached that true passion never quite catches fire. ... continued »
