Slow and steady wins the race this month. May starts with the Sun in steady Taurus where getting a solid foothold and proving reliability is more valuable than making a big splash and failing to follow through. The practical powers of Taurus are especially evident during the New Moon on May 2, which is a key time to make a realistic assessment of your resources so that you can manage them more effectively.
It's not simply about financial responsibility, although that's a good idea, but refers to the abilities and talents that you have that aren't being fully exploited. The richness of a Taurus New Moon is to find value in ourselves so that we can get the most out of it instead of comparing ourselves to or blaming others for our professional status.
There's another shift from the promise of doing something new or different and actually digging in and committing to your work. This is the transit of energetic Mars from fiery Aries to earthy Taurus on May 11.
For those in a hurry, this can feel like they're stepping into thick mud that makes it difficult to advance. That's why patience and persistence are so important now. Don't bite off more than you can chew since quality counts much more than quantity in the sign of the Bull. Imagination, though, will flow more easily, spawning fresh ideas when the Sun enters airy Gemini on May 21 and crosses paths with imaginative Neptune the following day.
