Remember when it was only the most eccentric sorts who talked about the possibility of life on other planets? That’s all changed in recent months, as new planets are discovered and more and more scientists speak out the likely possibility of alien life. And no, we’re not kidding. Just think how this could affect Astrology!
According to Yahoo News, the latest study suggests that a rocky alien planet called Gliese 581d could be the first known world beyond Earth capable of supporting life as we know it. Or maybe life as we don't know it, right?
The report says astronomers performing a new atmospheric-modeling study have found that the planet likely lies in the "habitable zone" of its host star and could be very Earth-like, with oceans, clouds and rainfall -- in other words, water that could sustain life.
Of course, there’s still no proof of this, but it’s fun to think about. Just imagine how it would change Astrology to have new planets and star systems influencing our lives.
This news comes at the same time today’s New York Times reports that astronomers have discovered space is littered with hundreds of billions of planets that have been ejected from the planetary systems that gave them birth, and now all these lonely planets may be just drifting around out there.
And don't forget, just this spring NASA astronomers announced they found 1,235 new planets, with somewhere between 5 and 50 of them being in a “habitable zone” like Earth that could possibly support life.
In other words, there are a lot more planets out there than we knew, which logically increases the odds there may also be more life out there than we knew.
It’s too bad SETI has temporarily shut down its alien-seeking radio dishes, right?
