Random Acts of Karmic Kindness

Improve your Karma just by being nice

We are all set to celebrate the spirit of kindness toward strangers during the holidays, and we'd love to have you join us. Help ensure some good Karma by helping others, whether you spend five minutes or five hours doing so.

Here are 10 random acts of karmic kindess to help you get started:

10 Random Acts of Karmic Kindess

  1. Smile! Smile at co-workers, fellow shoppers and strangers you pass on the street. It’ll improve everyone's energy and attitude all around.
  2. Buy the person in front of you a cup of coffee! In line at Starbucks? Just step up and say “that one’s on me!”
  3. Instead of fighting traffic, be the nice driver designated to letting others pass and merge with a friendly wave, even if it means you must wait.
  4. Baby, it's cold outside. If you’re taking 10 minutes to rake the leaves or sweep the snow from your front sidewalk, why not take 10 more to sweep your neighbor’s?
  5. Hold the door! Hold the elevator door, the grocery store door, the department store door ... you get the idea. Let others go first!
  6. Shop selflessly. Buy a charitable gift along with your other items. Pick up a  toy to donate to a children’s charity, or a warm sweater to give to a women’s shelter.
  7. Save all your change in a special coin purse, and don’t think twice about giving it all to others in need.
  8. Give up that sweet parking spot right next to the front entrance of the shop or restaurant you’re heading into. You can walk a few extra steps to make someone’s day, can’t you?
  9. Standing in a long line at the grocery store with a cart full o' goodies, while the person behind you has one graperfruit? C'mon, let 'em go first.
  10. Pay someone a compliment! You know how it makes your day when someone says you have nice eyes or they like your shoes? Make someone else feel like that.

Back in June, we were on our way back from Tahoe, getting grumpy as we were approaching the Bay Bridge, which means back to urban civilization, from the serenity of the forest. The lines weren't too terribly bad, but this one guy sped past, just to realize that the "empty" open lane was for "Fastrack" only. I guess he didn't have the Fastrack sensor, because he was trying to nudge into our lane, several cars ahead of us. Trying, but he wasn't succeeding, because none of the cars were letting him in. We thought, "perhaps he's as depressed about coming back as we are..." So Mark left room for him to sneak in, and we didn't think anything more about it.

We were actually a bit excited to finally get rid of those dollar coins, that were all sticky from soda or something. Mark went to hand th guy the coins, & he said something that we couldn't understand. We actually had to have him repeat it like 3 times, because we just couldn't believe what we heard. He said, "The guy in front of you already paid your toll, now MOVE!" LOL! We were laughing about that the rest of the way home. Mark paid it forward a couple weeks later, at Pete's. Thank you for reminding me that I still need to! I will do that this week. (Not sure I'm going to be anywhere that I could do that today...) Happy Holidays! :)

When my debit card was rejected at the gas station, the lady behind me in line had the cashier put $5 of gas on my pump. It saved my derriere as well as made my week!
After payday came around I did the same for someone else who needed a little help at the gas station.

Why stop at just ONE day? If everyone did this EVERY day, the world would be a nicer place! (not to mention what it'll do to everyone's karma!)

My sister & I always smile at strangers everywhere. We can't help it, it's part of who we are. I always talk to people next to me in line or let people go in front of me at the store. Driving I'll always let someone go in front of me, I know if I am kind to others it will come back to me. I have a husband who is a grouch all the time and doesn't believe in Karma, but I'm just plain nice anyway. Anyone have any ideas how to handle someone like him. He's a Sag with Virgo rising, and I'm a Virgo with Sag. rising. He has a Taurus Moon and I have a Libra Moon. I really would appreciate any advice at all. Blessed Be, Carol
