My Daily Defender Profile
Daily Defender nickname: The Cusper
Numerology Life Path number: 9
How I got into social media marketing: As the manager of Daily Insight Group's social properties for dailyhoroscope.com, Tarot.com, Numerology.com and Twittascope, I live, sleep and breathe social media. My position at Daily Insight Group could not be more perfect for me as I'm a social networking addict and an early adopter of many forms of social media. I moderated usenet newsgroups and Yahoo! Groups in the late 1990s, started my first blog on LiveJournal in 2000, and joined Facebook the very day the site was offered to University of Oregon students (my alma mater). Now I get to incorporate my hobby into my day job!
How I got into Astrology: My interest in western Astrology began in middle school when my peers and I religiously read the horoscope section of Seventeen magazine. Back then I thought I was a Scorpio. Because I'm on the Libra/Scorpio cusp, I didn't know I was actually a Libra until I started working at Daily Insight Group. When I ran my birth chart on my first day of work, I learned that my horoscope sign was actually a Libra all along! I actually felt relieved about my astro-identity for the first time because I never really felt like a true Scorpio! After two years of working at Daily Insight Group, my interest in Astrology has grown tremendously -- especially at interpreting birth charts!
The best part of my job is: Interacting with our loyal readers and fans on Facebook and Twitter, and getting unlimited Karma Coins® tokens to run insightful Astrology and Numerology reports and Tarot readings!
Sites I love: I consider myself an information addict. I enjoy receiving my news through Twitter and Facebook feeds, but when I'm not glued to those social sites, I like to read Huffington Post, CNN, Jezebel, Lifehacker. As a health/fitness freak, I have a number of healthy lifestyle sites I like to visit such as Livestrong.com and Oh She Glows. To indulge my tabloid guilty pleasure, I read Oh No They Didn't and Perez Hilton. Oh, I like pets, too. I love finding cute cat and dog pictures/videos on BuzzFeed.
Karmic weakness: Of the dailyhoroscope.com Top 10 Karmic Laws, "#3 Post in the past tense" is the one I break the most. Everyone who knows me knows that my iPhone is practically glued to my hand. I tend to overpost on Facebook and Twitter. I used to have the mantra that everyone HAS to know what I'm doing, where I am and what I'm eating in real time. Since abiding by dailyhoroscope.com's 10 Karmic Laws, I have been posting less frequently and have become a lot more mindful of the information I share and when I share it. I do this so I can enjoy life in real time, and then share my experience with friends on social sites later.
My current karmic dilemma: I have canceled and turned down social invitations more frequently lately because I want to make more time for myself. I feel guilty, as though I should be making more time for friends and family ... but at the same time, I require a lot of alone time to recoup from the work week! What should I do?
